Icelandair has round-trip flights from Denver (DEN) to London or Milan (LHR, MXP) for $481-$508 with a connection. Flights October to March. Extended weekends available.

An overnight stay in Reykjavik is required on the return leg of the trip, but I know some of you know how to make good use of a layover in Iceland.

A Carry on bag (20-lbs @ 21.6 x 15.7 x 7.8 inches) and a personal item (15.7 x 11.8 x 5.9 inches) is allowed for free on Icelandair. You can avoid seat selection fees by accepting the randomly assigned seat at the gate.

Icelandair offers free stopovers, which is good if you want spend a few nights in Reykjavik. More details are on their website (link).

You can usually save more money by booking your flight+hotel together as a package instead of separately.

Do a search on Tripadvisor to find guides, tours, restaurants, attractions, and cool things to do. It’s a good resource to help me plan your day-to-day itinerary while on vacation.

  • Tips: Hotel rates for Weekend dates are usually higher than the rates for Sunday through Thursday. Tripadvisor has a color-coded date calendar, red when the average hotel price for that day is more expensive, green for less expensive. You can use this to get an overview of what dates in the month are at a discount.
  • Tips: Different booking websites will often have differing routes, prices, and availability. Before you finalize your purchase, do a quick check on BookingBuddy, Skyscanner, and Kayak to see if any other site or airline is offering a better deal.
