United has round-trip flights from Phoenix (PHX) to Nassau, Bahamas, Montego Bay, or Monterrey (NAS, MBJ, MTY) for $318-$360 with a connection. Origin/Destination reversible. No major holiday dates available. Nassau flights have a late-night overnight flight on the outbound segment of the trip.

  • Nassau flights August, September, October, December, January, and May.
  • Montego Bay flights July, August, September, October, and January.
  • Monterrey flights August to June.

United’s “Basic Economy” fares do not allow for a free carry-on bag. Only a personal item (like a small laptop bag) is free. Seats are randomly assigned for free prior to boarding.

The personal item size on United is smaller (9 x 10 x 17 inches) than Frontier or Spirit (8 x 13 x 18 inches).

If you use the United℠ Explorer Card, your first standard checked-bag for you and your companion is free, you get priority boarding, two United Club passes per year, and you get a 25% discount on inflight purchases on United-operated flights as a statement credit.

Here are some other offers that we think are worth mentioning. List updated 05/23/2024.

We now list coupon codes, discount codes, gift card discounts, and credit card offers that have a better value than their historical averages.

  • Starting 05/22/2024: Southwest Airlines is now available for booking via Google Flights and the Chase Travel Portal. This is a major departure to the “closed-fare” policy that Southwest has had in the past. Both of these options are faster than the clunky, outdated, Southwest booking website, and will make it easier to comparison shop against their competitors.
  • $50 back at Grand Hyatt after $250 spend (Amex offer). Get a one-time $50 statement credit by using your enrolled eligible Card to spend a minimum of $250 USD in one or more purchases on room rate and room charges at Grand Hyatt properties in the US and internationally from 4/8/2024 to 6/30/2024. Two step process: Step 1: Login to your American Express account and register your card for the offer. Step 2: Book at with the Amex card you registered. Be sure to read the full offer details on the Amex offer page.
  • Airfare/Hotel coupons on Hopper: (updated daily-ish) Hopper always has discount coupons on their main page. $100 off Singapore Airlines flights to Singapore, $50-$125 Air New Zealand, $100 off Fiji Airways. $50 off Royal Air Maroc flights, $50 off Air India flights, and more. The full list is on Hopper’s website. Keep in mind that Hopper is an OTA, so don’t expect them to honor the free 24-hour cancellation period, or to have the lowest base fare price. Hopper will try to up-sell you on a lot of extras like “cancel for any reason” policies, if you decide to use Hopper we advise that you decline all of those extras.
  • It is common to find Southwest and Alaska Airlines gift-cards for sale at a discount of about -$50 to -$20 off the redeemable value at Costco and Sam’s Club. Before you finalize your booking on either of these airlines, you should check to see if you can save more money by using a gift card.
