Delta currently has a Delta SkyMiles promotion for round-trip flights from Los Angeles (LAX) to Sydney, Australia (SYD) for 34k-50k points + $117.85 tax/fees. Flights October through February. Cheapest dates on the Calendar are between November 20 and November 27.

Published rates are 40k-50k SkyMiles for non-card holders, but if you have the Delta SkyMiles® Gold American Express Card, you get an additional 15% off the published rate (34k points after discount).

If you travel on Delta often, consider getting their credit card. Most of their cards allow for a free checked bag perk and a 15% discount on points redemptions.
