Southwest is marketing this sale as requiring a coupon-code “29OFF”, which doesn’t seem to really be a requirement. If you use the search calendar, the discount is already applied. They also are marketing this as a limited, California only sale, and again, this doesn’t seem to be correct. We’re seeing lower fares for many destinations outside of and not departing from California. Unlike some blogs, we’ve manually looked at all of their major routes and noted which ones are really on sale, and which aren’t. We don’t just parrot the marketing e-mails and promo pages. In this case, while the majority of discounts are to/from California, as expected, there are also discounts between Portland and Las Vegas $138, and Phoenix to Sale Lake for $158, to name a few examples.
Other noteworthy mentions: The lowest priced fares are inner-state flights within California; for example $58 between Los Angeles and San Francisco. We mentioned the $192 Los Angeles to Hawaii fares last night, before Southwest officially mentioned their sale.
